Queen of Wands
Welcome to season 6 of this podcast where I am talking all about the Suit of Wands.
I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.
What we explore in this episode:
What makes the Queen of Wands one of the most magnetic figures in the Tarot
The symbolism of her imagery across multiple decks
The connection between sacred fire and creative discipline
How to access and sustain self-trust, even when you feel unseen
Why warmth and boundaries are not opposites
Queen of Wands
Pictures from the decks I talked about today referenced from left to right:
The Queen of Wands embodies charisma, warmth, and unshakable confidence. She’s the kind of presence that lights up a room, not by demanding attention, but by being so fully herself. With a black cat at her feet and a sunflower in her hand in traditional depictions, she blends fierce independence with intuitive connection.
This card calls us into integrity and asks us to meet the moment with presence and pride. In The Library of Esoterica, she is described as a leader undaunted by challenge—one who embraces success while staying rooted in her principles. She reminds us: true power doesn’t shrink or shout. It radiates.
If you haven't listened to my other seasons yet, go check them out!
The first season, I introduced tarot through talking about oracle vs tarot cards, myths of tarot, how to find a deck, reading for yourself vs others, and much more.
In seasons 2 and 3, I went through the major arcana and the four suits, one per episode.
In season 4, I talked all about Tarot in Pop Culture and examined representations of Tarot in videogames, TV shows, movies, and more.
In season 5, I went through 13 Common Tarot Spreads, what they are, how many cards, and an example of what it looks like to work through one.
Today's Tarot Pull:
Today's card pull came from the Anima Mundi Tarot Deck and offered the Two of Cups Reversed—a gentle nudge about what happens when we disconnect from ourselves or deprioritize what lights us up. Are we tending to our inner flame, or letting it fizzle while chasing external approval? This pull reminds us that disconnection and imbalance often point back to unmet creative and emotional needs.
Reflective prompts on this card:
Where in your life are you dimming your fire to make others more comfortable?
What rituals or creative practices help you reconnect with your inner flame?
How can you embody your truth with warmth and courage, like the Queen of Wands?
Are you trusting yourself to be fully seen, even in your boldness?
What needs more sacred tending in your creative life right now?
