King of Wands
Welcome to season 6 of this podcast where I am talking all about the Suit of Wands.
I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.
What we explore in this episode:
Fire as a symbol of leadership and action
Respecting your "inner lizard" (your survivor self)
Leading with authenticity rather than comparison
Staying connected to your own values and passion
King of Wands
Pictures from the decks I talked about today referenced from left to right:
Therapists Who Tarot Deck, Prompts by Dreya Blume and Images by Rebecca Bloom
The Goddess of Love Tarot Deck: A Book and Deck for Embodying The Erotic Divine Feminine by Gabriela Herstik and illustrated by Julia Popescu, who also goes by snakes4hair
In this episode, we are stepping into the energy of the King of Wands, the final card in our journey through the Suit of Wands.
The King of Wands is a powerful figure of confidence, vision, and bold leadership. He teaches us what it looks like to trust in our hard-won wisdom, to lead by example, and to blaze trails without losing sight of the bigger picture.
This card invites us to own our authority, not because it was handed to us, but because we earned it through perseverance, resilience, and the lessons only experience can teach. It reminds us that passion needs grounding, and that true leadership is not about demanding respect but about living in a way that naturally inspires it.
If you haven't listened to my other seasons yet, go check them out!
The first season, I introduced tarot through talking about oracle vs tarot cards, myths of tarot, how to find a deck, reading for yourself vs others, and much more.
In seasons 2 and 3, I went through the major arcana and the four suits, one per episode.
In season 4, I talked all about Tarot in Pop Culture and examined representations of Tarot in videogames, TV shows, movies, and more.
In season 5, I went through 13 Common Tarot Spreads, what they are, how many cards, and an example of what it looks like to work through one.
Today's Tarot Pull:
Today’s card pull was the Page of Pentacles in reverse from the Anima Mundi Tarot Deck by Megan Wyreweden.
The reversed Page of Pentacles warns us about the dangers of impatience, short-term thinking, and lack of focus. It reminds us that while big dreams and ambitions are important, they need to be rooted in practical steps and grounded commitment to grow into reality. Combined with the energy of the King of Wands, this pull emphasizes the importance of balancing fiery passion with earthy practicality.
Reflective prompts on this card:
Where in my life am I ready to step into leadership, even if it feels scary?
What parts of myself have I undervalued that are actually part of my strength?
Am I focusing on quick wins, or am I willing to build something sustainable?
What dreams or goals of mine need more grounding, structure, or patience?
How can I honor both my fiery ambition and my need for strategic action?
