Five of Wands
Welcome to season 6 of this podcast where I am talking all about the Suit of Wands.
I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.
What we explore in this episode:
Common imagery in this card: crossed wands, scattered energy, thorny stems, and symbolic fire
The Five of Wands as a mirror for conflict, competition, and the push for creative breakthrough
The psychological perspective on what this card can tell us about navigating power struggles and interpersonal tension
Astrological connections and how this card can relate to ambition and drive
Five of Wands
Pictures from the decks I talked about today referenced from left to right:
Anima Mundi Tarot Deck by Megan Wyreweden
The Goddess of Love Tarot Deck: A Book and Deck for Embodying The Erotic Divine Feminine by Gabriela Herstik and illustrated by Julia Popescu, who also goes by snakes4hair
In this episode, we're exploring the Five of Wands, a card that speaks to creative tension, internal restlessness, and the kind of challenge that invites transformation.
The Five of Wands often appears when you are on the verge of something meaningful, but things feel messy. Maybe you are encountering resistance. Maybe there’s competition, miscommunication, or internal friction.
This card reminds us that growth rarely happens in a vacuum. There is heat. There is fire. And sometimes, there is chaos. This is the kind of challenge that helps clarify your voice and your values. It is a reminder that challenge does not mean failure, but movement. Let the friction refine your fire and teach you how to hold your own in the heat.

In seasons 2 and 3, I went through the major arcana and the four suits, one per episode.
In season 4, I talked all about Tarot in Pop Culture and examined representations of Tarot in videogames, TV shows, movies, and more.
In season 5, I went through 13 Common Tarot Spreads, what they are, how many cards, and an example of what it looks like to work through one.
Today's Tarot Pull:
The King of Wands reversed (King of Chiles) from The Desert Illuminations Tarot, asks us to examine self-doubt, leadership style, and our relationship to personal power when things feel out of sync or overly competitive.
